What this product helps you do
Julep 3 is a ground-up rewrite of the earlier Julep agents API. It treats agents as composable dataflows: developers define typed @flow functions, register tools and reasoners, freeze the allowed capability surface at deployment, and inspect the resulting graph and trace. The base Python package can compile and dry-run flows without an API key; optional extras add Temporal or DBOS durability, HTTP and MCP calls, provider adapters, OpenTelemetry, artifact storage, WebAssembly execution, and a self-hosted control plane. Julep 3 is currently a release candidate installed with the pre-release flag, and the project states that there is no migration path from Julep v1.
Problems it solves
- Ad-hoc agent loops are difficult to resume, retry safely, inspect, and reason about after failures
- Agent applications need typed tool, reasoner, branching, fan-out, timeout, and retry semantics in one graph
- Production teams need the permitted tool and model surface frozen and validated before execution
- Developers need local deterministic dry runs plus optional durable runtimes and control-plane deployment

Julep 3 is an Apache-licensed Python framework that compiles typed agent flows into frozen execution graphs with tools, reasoners, pure functions, branches, fan-out, retries, timeouts, and explicit capability checks.
The base package supports local compilation and dry runs. Optional extras add durable runtimes, providers, MCP and HTTP calls, tracing, a control plane, and deployment tooling. Julep 3 is currently a release candidate and is not compatible with Julep v1.
